Adamawa Refunds Hajj 2020 Intending Pilgrims, Says 46 out of 1,169 applied for Refund

46 out of 1, 169intending Pilgrims from Adamawa State that paid for Hajj 2020 Hajj have been refunded their deposits.

In a welcome address, the Permanent Secretary and Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission, Malam Salihu Abubakar at an event explained that the recipients applied for the refund after Saudi authorities cancelled the 2020 Hajj for international Pilgrims due to Covid-nineteen pandemic lockdown.

He said the Commission went round the twenty-one local government areas to meet with stakeholders and enlighten intending Pilgrims to either roll over their deposits to next year’s Hajj or apply for refund which some did.

Malam Salihu Abubakar said the Commission collected deposits of over one billion naira from intending Pilgrims which made it the highest depositor with NAHCON.

He pointed out that collection of refund, for now, has been put on hold until after the twenty twenty-one Hajj.

He expressed gratitude to the intending Pilgrims for the 2020 Hajj for their patience and understanding.

The Permanent Secretary and Executive Secretary assured those who rolled over their deposits to 2021 Hajj of the safety of their deposits with the Commission.

Dignitaries who attended the event presented bank drafts to those who requested for the refund which includes the Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Usman Aliyu Marafa, representatives of the SSG, Bashir Ahmad, ICPC and the District Head of Jimeta.

In a remark, one of the recipients, Malam Yusuf Jalo commended the Permanent Secretary and Executive Secretary of the Commission, Malam Salihu Abubakar for transparency and accountability in the discharge of his duties.

The event was attended by representatives of various departments and Civil Society organisations.
