Press Release

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad of Bauchi State has approved the commencement of Umrah operations to be conducted from this holy month of Ramadan under the state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris. It said the board had fixed N1,250,000:00 as the cost of performing Umrah in the last 15 days of Ramadan in Saudi Arabia.

Imam Abdurrahman attributed the devaluation of Naira against the dollar as reason for the hike in the fare, pointed out that the Governor Bala Muhammad administration has achieved admirable feats in Hajj and Umrah management by changing the narrative in Bauchi to an international reference.

He therefore advised the Muslim Ummah wishing to perform end of this year’s Ramadan Umrah to immediately grab the advantage provided by the state to make payment for their fares at the headquarters of the board in Bauchi on or before April 1st, 2022.

Imam Abdurrahman also appealed to intending Umrah pilgrims to be law abiding, desist from travelling with prohibited items into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and pray for the state and Nigeria at large.
