Buhari appoints former NAHCON Commissioner Permanent Secretary

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of the immediate past commissioner in charge of Health Matters at the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Dr Ibrahim Kana as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.

 

Dr Kana is one of five new Permanent Secretaries, whose appointment was announced by the office Head of Service of The Federation on Friday.

 

The appointment was announced in a statement by the Director, Press and Public Affairs of the office of the Head Of Service, Abdulganiyu Aminu.

 

Dr Kana was responsible for positive transformation of health matters in NAHCON during the tenure of the immediate past NAHCON board.

 

He also served four different Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Ministry of health as Senior Special Assistant, and this has greatly impacted on his administrative and managerial acumen. Dr. Kana’s tenure in the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) was remarkable when he represented the ministry as Commissioner in Charge of Health; he initiated major reform programmes which led to the complete turnaround of healthcare provision for Nigerian Pilgrims from 2011-2019 under the leadership of Barr. Abdullahi Mukthar.

 

He initiated several reforms which earned him and Nigeria as a whole several commendations by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and was also appointed into the global centre for mass gatherings medicine in Riyadh. He has also served on various presidential and ministerial committees.

 

 

The Head of Service also announced that the date of swearing and deployment of the new Perm Secs “will be announced in due course”.

 

The New Permanent secretaries were appointed following a rigorous selection process.

 

Dr Kana hails from Nasarawa state.
