Cameroonian Govt subsidize 2019 Hajj fare with XAF1 billion (614 Million naira)
(Business in Cameroon) – Cameroonian President Paul Biya has just approved a total of XAF1 billion to the country’s Muslim community to help in the organization of Hajj 2019. Announcement was made May 8 by the territorial administration minister who also heads the National Hajj Commission.
Subsidy is to cope with the XAF287,000 CFA increase per pilgrim, decided by the National Hajj Commission, which has caused discontent within the Muslim community. Thanks to this support, instead of XAF2,529,000, each pilgrim will now only pay XAF2,242,000.
