COVID-19: NAHCON reviews medical guidelines for 2021 hajjThe National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has met with other stakeholders to review medical guidelines ahead of 2021 hajj to tackle challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting held at the Hajj House Abuja on Tuesday was attended by the leadership of the national medical team and representatives of the States Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards from across the country.

In his opening remarks, the Commissioner of Planning, Research, Statistics and Library Services, Sheikh Sulaiman Momoh, said the review was necessitated by the COVID -19 pandemic ravaging the world.

He urged the states pilgrims boards and the medical team to explore all options that will ensure NAHCON provides all necessary health support to Nigerian pilgrims in the face of emerging challenges.

The commissioner requested the medical team leadership to advise the commission on when to procure drugs and consumables for onshore and offshore operations.

On his part, head of the medical team harmonization panel, Alhaji R. O Abdulsalam, said they have done all the necessary reviews and came up with resolutions for deliberation by stakeholders.

Director of FCT pilgrims board, Alhaji Danmallam, said there was need for environmental health workers to be part of the team for the inspection of pilgrims accommodation in the holy land.
