The Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has warned intending pilgrims against paying their 2023 Hajj fare to unauthorised persons to avoid being duped.

The Executive Secretary of the board, Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan made this known at a meeting with the 11 local government Hajj officers of the state in Gombe, the state capital.

He advised that intending pilgrims should come directly to the Board for payment and other inquiries.

Hassan also called on intending pilgrims to complete the payment of their deposits in order to meet the requirements of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

NAHCON had directed all the 36 states and FCT boards to pay up to 50 per cent of the #Hajj fare of the number of seats allocated to them.

Gombe state was allocated 2301 seats for the 2023 Hajj.

The Gombe ES warned the Board’s staff, Local Government Hajj officers and other stakeholders to desist from back door allocation of Hajj seats and increasing of fare to some desperate pilgrims.

Hassan also tasked all key officers of the Board to be honest and diligent in handling the issues of intending pilgrims.
