Egyptian Tourism ministry adopts measures to regulate Umrah trips – official

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities adopted all regulations required to govern the implementation of Umrah trips for the 1444 AH season, according to Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs Ghada Shalabi.

 

In a meeting held on Tuesday, to follow up on the latest developments regarding the Umrah season for the current Hijri year, that started Oct 1st, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities official said the Egyptian Umrah portal – E- Serve has been opened before companies that registered with the ministry for executing Umrah programs, as well as citizens wishing to perform the religious ritual.

 

All measures are part of the ministry’s efforts to preserve rights of pilgrims and monitor services offered to them.

The ministry urged citizens to contact the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities hotline 19654 in case of any complaint.

 

The ministry’s controlling guides for the organization of Umrah trips include general rules and procedures and special requirements for pilgrims before and after performing the rites of Umrah, as well as before returning to Egypt and when and after arriving at the Egyptian ports, in addition to a number of rules and procedures for tourism companies organizing Umrah trips, as well as rules and procedures for residency in Makkah and Madinah.

 

The measures also included the mechanism of work of the ministry’s committees, the rules for agents, private airlines, and the rules for contracts with Saudi proxy institutions, in addition to the executive procedures for dealing with the Egyptian portal for Umrah.

These rules and procedures stipulate many items, including the need for tourism companies executing Umrah trips for the year 1444 AH to comply with the health procedures and controls issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to submit all declarations and health certificates for pilgrims regarding the Umrah season for this year.
