From the “reefs of Makkah” .. to the corridors of “Harvard

Between the topography of memories and the plateau of challenges he faced as he collected half a million pictures and drawings of Mecca and the holy sites, Dr. Maraj Mirza says, smiling in a way that hides some letters in the speech:

“I was born and lived in Makkah, lived in Makkah, studied for Makkah, got a master’s degree from Makkah, and a PhD from Makkah, until an atleast I authored on Makkah led me to work as a visiting professor at Harvard University.”

In his council full of rare and historical picture of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Dr. Maraj Mirza, a specialist in geography and former associate professor at Umm Al-Qura University, tells of his long experience with collecting pictures and drawings about Mecca: “It was a huge effort, an effort that cannot be easily described, everything started with me Since I was a college student, I have continued until now, at the age of 71.

Mirza maintains a tremendous amount of rare documents and manuscripts, many of which are included in illustrated books: “I have the illustrated Atlas book of Mecca and the Holy Places, located at 350 pages, and it includes all pictures and drawings about Mecca since the sixth century AH, until now.”

Mirza stands in front of one of the images while he is contemplating it before he cut the world of geography and the Valley of Silence with a comment explaining his suffering with the collection of pictures: “I had a lot of travel between many countries and continents. Tired. ”

Mirza participated in his books, a number of his specialized friends, and other publications were published, such as the Atlas of Maps of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, the Atlas of Makkah Al-Mukarramah from Heaven, in addition to a draft of a new book explaining the status of the holy feelings in a chronology.

Mirza describes his new publication as a “testimony of truth” and complements: “The leap and care that took place during the period of the Saudi state cannot be compared to everything that was before it.” King Abdulaziz until now. ”
