Airlift of intending pilgrims from Bauchi state for this year’s Hajj exercise begins on Thursday.

 

This was revealed Tuesday by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed while delivering his farewell message to the 1,985 pilgrims expected to perform Hajj from Bauchi this year.

 

The governor also announced a donation of 300 Saudi Riyals (N30,000), to the intending pilgrims.

 

The event held inside the multi-purpose indoor sports hall in Bauchi, the state capital.

Muhammad said the donation was part of his administration’s determination to ensure the welfare of the state pilgrims in addition to the earlier reduction of 20 thousand naira from the hajj fare.

He said the state government has made adequate arrangements for their welfare, safety, accommodation and transportation, and called on them to be good ambassadors of the state while in  Saudi Arabia.

 

The Governor appealed to the intending pilgrims to pray for his administration to overcome the challenges facing the state, especially in the areas of poverty and unemployment.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the 2019 Hajj Committee who is also the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji  Baba Tela assured that the committee would work tirelessly for the success of hajj exercise in the state.

 

“We have tidied our house in the state and in the holy land, therefore we need the support of the pilgrims to succeed.

 

“We urge the prospective pilgrims to give us all the maximum and necessary support to have a hitch-free pilgrimage this year, “ he said 

Earlier, The Acting Executive Secretary, Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Kashim Dallami Shall disclosed that 1,985 intending pilgrims are expected to perform the exercise from the state.

 

Alhaji Dallami Shall described the support given to the board by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed as the first of its kind in the history of the board.
