Hajj 2019: Gombe female pilgrims to undergo pregnancy test on eve of departure

Female intending pilgrims from Gombe state are to be subjected to pregnancy tests on eve of their departure to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj exercise.

The tests would be conducted at the airport and only those who test negative will be allowed to board the plane.

Executive Secretary of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Sa’ad Hassan, who indicated this on Wednesday while fielding questions from newsmen in Gombe, the state capital.

He said five medical personnel would be accompanying the pilgrims, but would join the national medical team of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.

Hassan also appealed to NAHCON to maintain the July 20th date slated for transporting Gombe pilgrims to the Holy Land.

He said 2,000 seats were allocated to the state, out of which 1,450 intending pilgrims were registered.

The secretary explained that the Board had secured visa for 1,150 intending pilgrims, while efforts had been intensified to secure for the remaining 300.
