The overseer of Kaduna state Muslim Pilgrims Board, Imam Tsoho Hussein Ikara has said that the state contingent to this year’s Hajj exercise recorded total success due to the non interference of Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
The overseer, who spoke exclusively to HAJJ REPORTERS in his office in Makkah on Monday said unlike previous years, governor Nasir El-Rufai had given the board the freedom to run Hajj operations without executive interference.
“Allah has destined we will record the success but you know everything has a source. I want to assure you that His Excellency the governor of Kaduna state Mallam Nasir El Rufai has contributed a lot.
“Firstly, he gave us free hand. We are the ones to study our situation and take decisions, we only report to him.
“With my experience in Hajj, I can assure you that he is the only governor that I ever know who doesn’t interfere in Hajj issues in Kaduna state,” he said.
Imam Ikara also said “ previously you will see a sitting governor asking you to add this person to your officials, whether he will contribute or not. Mallam Nasir never did that.
“A governor would tell you, this is my friend, give him the contract for searching for accommodation, or feeding or something of that nature. Under Mallam Nasiru even if people will come and say it’s Mallam that asked me to come, if you contact him he will tell you he didn’t ask anybody to come.
“He gave us free hand and he is supporting in all aspect. That is the secret of our success”.
The overseer also spoke about the controversy around which airline is responsible for the movement of the state pilgrims to Saudi Arabia and back as well as plans being put in place in preparation for Hajj 2019.
Full text of the interview will be published in the Special Edition of Hajj Reporters Hajj 2019 Magazine soon.
