The Emir of Bauchi Dr. Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu has called on the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board to expedite action on education and enlightenment of the general public, particularly the intending pilgrims on preparations of this year Hajj exercise.
The Emir gave the advice in his palace when he received officials of the board on a courtesy visit.
He expressed concern on the closeness of the dateline given for the payment of Hajj deposits by National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.
Dr. Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu advised the board to intensify enlightenment campaign through the media, traditional and religious leaders to enable intending pilgrims to meet the March 7 dateline.
He, therefore, directed districts and ward heads as well as Imams of mosques across the emirate, to educate their people especially intending pilgrims amongst them on the need to pay their deposits before the closing date.
The Emir used the visit to appreciate Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad for his contributions to the board, which led to the successes recorded during a 2019 hajj exercise.
Earlier, the Ag. Executive Secretary of the Board Mal Alkasim Danlami Shall, said the visit was to seek for the Emir’s support towards the success of hajj operation in Bauchi.
He informed the Emir that the board has conducted a sensitisation tour to the 20 LGAs and intending pilgrims were sensitized through stakeholders on the need to pay their deposits in good time.
He stressed that all intending pilgrims must have at least N750,000 to their credit by March 7, 2020, to pave way for necessary preparations.
He said that the directive was received from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria to enable it to conclude the necessary arrangements in Saudi Arabia.
