Kano State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board said it has commenced the induction/enlightenment of Hajj 2021 intending pilgrims from the state.

The Executive Secretary of the board, Alhaji Mohammed Abba Danbatta said the enlightenment, which was flagged off last Saturday at the board’s headquarters will continue at the various pilgrims’ registration centers in the state.

He said the programme is aimed at educating and updating the intending pilgrims on Hajj process and how to conduct themselves both in Nigeria and the holy land.

He said enlightenment will end when the airlift of pilgrims commences in the state.

He added that the state has also began giving the second dose of Covid 19 vaccine to the state’s intending pilgrims

Alhaji Dambatta told HAJJ REPORTERS that he had earlier briefed the media on the reports about the number of pilgrims that will be allowed to perform this year’s Hajj.

Media reports at the weekend stated that the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Health has recommended that only 60,000 pilgrims should be allowed to perform the Hajj this year in line with Covid-19 protocols. Out of the number, 15,000 pilgrims should come from Saudi Arabia while the remaining 45,000 should come from outside.

In his chat with HAJJ REPORTERS, the Kano E. S. said “I have briefed the press and I informed them that the trending numbers is a recommendation from the Saudi Ministry of Health. The decision on the numbers of pilgrims lies with Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and they have not taken any decision yet and that whenever they do, they will surely communicate their decision to NAHCON”.
