Kano state Pilgrims Welfare Board has taken over the newly constructed health care centre from National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The facility being funded through Hajj Development Levy Project is primarily dedicated to pilgrims healthcare delivery during hajj season.

The Executive Secretary of the board, Alh. Abba Muhammad Danbatta who disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday revealed that over 4,700 intending pilgrims are ready for 2021 hajj.

Abba posited that the state government has approved procurement of medical facilities and critical health equipment including ambulance to enhance quality clinical provision.

“I am sure you are aware of the hajj development levy projects being anchored by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). These projects are spread across states of the Federation. In Kano we have clinic and hospitality centre.

“The health care centre is completed and it has been handed over to Kano state government through the Pilgrims Welfare board. What is left now is to equip the facility and make it operational.

“Now, we are glad to inform you that Government, under the able leadership of Governor Abdullah Ganduje has approved procurement of all the medical facilities we requested for.

“With this facility on ground before the hajj season, intending pilgrims will be able to undergo all examination and diagnosed properly. By so doing we would be able to identify Pilgrims with peculiar illness and make adequate provision for their welfare in the holy land.

Meanwhile, the Board has mandated evidence of COVID-19 vaccines certificate as condition for the acceptance of hajj deposits henceforth.

The ES declared that fresh depositors should rather avail themselves with the vaccines from other sources in the state before raising their draft.

Alh. Abba revealed that already, the board has successfully inoculated 4,700 contingents who have raised their draft earlier with the first dose.

He added that adequate provision for the second jab has been concluded across the 16 collection centers designated in the 44 local government areas.
