The National Coordinator of Independent Hajj Reporters, Mallam Ibrahim Mohammed finally arrives Saudi Arabia to perform and monitor the conduct of Hajj 2022.

Mallam Ibrahim took the last flight from Nigeria, Azman Air ZQ2362 which took off from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

The IHR coordinator said he chose to stay back and Nigeria and monitor developments due to the “challenging Hajj operations so far, especially with the airlift of pilgrims and other processes”.

“ I am glad I decided to stay back and monitor proceedings. A lot of things that should not go wrong went wrong and the blame cuts across board”.

As a CSO, we will monitor, keep advising and reporting and also take note for a post mortem of this year’s Hajj. We just can’t allow ourselves to go back to the olden days of failed Hajj operations. “

Speaking further, Ibrahim said IHR will work with all stakeholders including the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) State Pilgrims welfare boards and agencies, the National Assembly and even anti corruption and law enforcement agencies to critically look at Hajj 2022 operations.

“ Hajj Seat racketeering, Visa cancellations and flight cancellations has led to hundreds of pilgrims being left behind in Nigeria. We need to know what went wrong and who did what, with a view to making amends and avoiding a repeat”, he said.
