The Chairman/CEO of NAHCON Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, has called on journalists to render their support towards the success of the 2023 Hajj activities.

He made the call while presenting his inaugural address of 2023 Hajj media team, during which he appealed to them to always edit and proofread their story before publishing it on the internet because if an erroneous story goes out, it could be very difficult to retrieve it.

He however said, “As a powerful channel of communication media, which plays an important role in galvanising national unity; I need to remind you of the reason why the national media team is enhanced to build the unity of purpose, and as from today, you are strategically important partner with regards to the 2023 Hajj operations”.

“We can not be everywhere; if you notice the delay in our service, you please call our attention for us to take prompt action.”

I would like to assure all Nigerian pilgrims, who have registered for the 2023 Hajj, that there is no one who is going to be left behind. Moreover, our advanced team will be departing to Saudi Arabia on 21st May, 2023, then inaugural flight will be held on 25th May, 2023, where Nasarawa State Pilgrims will be airlifted to the Holy Land.

In his remarks, “The Commissioner in-charge of Personal Policy Management and Finance, Nura Hassan Yakasai, threw some words of advice saying, “The 2023 Hajj media team ought to consider the rules and ethical standards provided when discharging their duties.”

“You have responsibility to NAHCON and Nigerians, thus try to be fair and be objective. The door is open to you at all time whenever you have anything that requires clarifications. Therefore, you need to try as much as possible to first of all cross check your information to avoid triviality because we always want the Nation to hold us in confidence, hence we must endeavour to report news in its pristine form as well as uphold the truth at all times. Remember, the Chairman has categorically stated that we are all partners as Muslims and as Nigerians.

“Besides, I am urging you to protect the image of the Commission and our dear country, Nigeria, through objective and ethical reporting.
