Hajj 2023 Begins as NAHCON constitutes aviation screening committee, By Ahmad Mu’azu

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has inaugurated the Aviation Screening Committee to oversee the screening of Nigerian pilgrim’s air carriers for the 2023 exercise.

 

The ceremony was held in Abuja on Wednesday at the commission’s headquarters with top officials from NAHCON, the Chairman Senate committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa, the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Pilgrimage, Alhaji Hassan Nalaraba, and the Nigerian aviation industry, in attendance.

 

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chairman of NAHCON, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, emphasised the importance of safety and security during the Hajj. He explained that the screening process play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of Nigerian pilgrims.

 

“The safety and security of Nigerian pilgrims is our top priority, and we are committed to ensuring that they have a comfortable and hussle-free pilgrimage experience,” Hassan said.

 

He added that the Aviation Screening Committee, which comprises representatives from NAHCON, NCAA, FAAN and other relevant agencies, would work together to ensure that all pilgrims are screened according to international standards.

 

The Director-General of NCAA, Captain Musa Shuaibu Nuhu, expressed his agency’s commitment to working with NAHCON to ensure a seamless screening process for Nigerian pilgrims.

 

“We are ready to provide all the necessary support and facilities to ensure that the screening process is conducted efficiently and effectively,” Nuhu said.

 

The inauguration of the Aviation Screening Committee comes ahead of the 2023 Hajj operations, which is expected to take place in May this year.
