Hajj 2023: NAHCON briefs Private Hajj Operators on preparations

The Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan along with his commissioners has in Tuesday met with the leadership of the Association of Hajj and Umrah Operators in Nigeria (AHUON).

The purpose of the meeting is to brief the Private Hajj Operators on the scheduled virtual conference between the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and NAHCON in preparation for the 2023 Hajj.

The NAHCON Chairman said AHUON is a critical stakeholder in Hajj operations and thus needs to be informed on keys issues as they develop towards the 2023 Hajj, saying the outcome of the meeting will determine the direction the Commission will take concerning new arrangements for this year’s Hajj exercise.

He also requested them to prepare for a follow-up meeting after the commission might have held a scheduled virtual meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj on 21st December.

AHUON appreciated NAHCON’s invitation describing it as a sign of progress. They also expressed the hope of getting more updates from the Commission.

The President of AHUON, Alhaji Nasidi Yahaya who led the AHUON Executives to the meeting, promise to support NAHCON’s preparations for the 2023 Hajj season.

Present at the parley were NAHCON’s Commissioner of Operations, Alhaji Abdullahi Magaji Hardawa, , the Commissioner Policy, Personnel Management and Finance; Alhaji Nura Hassan Yakassai, the Commissioner, Planning, Research, Statistics, Information and Library Services, Sheikh Suleman Momoh, as well as NAHCON’s Secretary, Dr Rabi’u Kontagora.

A similar meeting was held last week with the leadership of the Forum of State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards.
