Hajj 2024: Ministry unveils pilgrim-centric innovations, adopt Qr designed suitcase, special mobile package

Minister Aneeq Ahmed expresses his optimism about these advancements

The Ministry of Religious Affairs on Tuesday unveiled the Hajj policy for 2024, aimed at revolutionising the pilgrimage experience for Pakistani pilgrims.

Caretaker Religious Affairs Minister Aneeq Ahmed announced that the policy, which is set to be presented to the cabinet for approval in the next 10 days, introduces several groundbreaking changes to ensure a more comfortable and connected journey for Hajj pilgrims.

One of the most notable changes is the introduction of a short Hajj option, allowing pilgrims to choose a more compact pilgrimage experience lasting between 18 to 30 days. Minister Aneeq Ahmed emphasized that this flexibility would empower pilgrims to tailor their journey according to their preferences.

A major highlight of the new policy is the provision of two specially designed suitcases for each Hajj pilgrim, adorned with QR codes containing essential information such as the pilgrim’s name, passport number, residence, school number, and other details. This innovation aims to streamline the logistics and enhance security during the pilgrimage.

In a significant step towards connectivity, the ministry has also secured an agreement with a Saudi Arabian mobile phone company to provide a special mobile package exclusively for Hajj pilgrims.

This package, priced at Rs4,000, will enable pilgrims to make audio and video calls, ensuring they can stay in touch with their families back in Pakistan throughout their Hajj journey.

Minister expresses hope over advancements

Minister Aneeq Ahmed expressed his optimism about these advancements, stating, “Now Pakistani pilgrims will not be lost in the crowd. These changes are designed to simplify the Hajj experience, enhance communication, and provide pilgrims with peace of mind.”

Moreover, the Saudi government has generously offered official residences for Pakistani pilgrims, further easing their accommodations during their sacred journey.

The Hajj policy for 2024 promises to transform the pilgrimage experience for Pakistani Muslims, offering flexibility, convenience, and connectivity like never before. With these innovative measures, the Ministry of Religious Affairs aims to ensure that the spiritual journey of Hajj remains a memorable and cherished experience for all pilgrims.
