Hajj 2024: Saudi Arabia increase Cameroonian Hajj Slot to 10,000

The Cameroonian Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji granted an audience to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Yaoundé.

The meeting between the two officials focused on preparations for the Hajj 2024, next year’s pilgrimage to Mecca. Faisal Saud Almejfel took the opportunity to announce that due to the exemplary behavior of Cameroonian pilgrims during this year’s Hajj, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has decided to increase the number of places allocated to Cameroon for next year’s pilgrimage to 10,000. A further 40 places will be added for administrative and medical staff, and journalists.

This year, Cameroon was allocated just over 5,500 places.

For the coming Hajj, preparations are already underway. Both parties have worked out the details of the registration procedure. Another new feature is that the process will be fully digitalized, and visas will be issued electronically.

According to the schedule, November 4 marks the end of preparatory meetings and the availability of the service package. The end of registration is scheduled for February 25, 2024, with departure for Mecca scheduled for May 9.
