Hajj /Umrah Operators Need Collaboration, Supports to survive COVID 19 Meltdown – Former AHUON President

A former president of AHUON and Chief Executive Officer of Visa Travels and Tour Ltd has called on Hajj and Umrah tour operators to evolve a mechanism of collaborations if they are to survive the meltdown being witness in the travel industry.

 

The former President who was one of the speakers at a seminar organised by Association of Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria AHUON calls for unity among members and seeks for interventions from agencies like NCAA to enable private tour operators to minimize the losses incurred as a result of suspension of Umrah due to Coronavirus pandemic.

 

The Seminar “The future of Hajj and Umrah operations After the Pandemic” was organised by AHUON under the leadership of Salisu Butu.

Hajj Reporters are among the participant of the online Seminar that lasted for 2 hours.

The lead speaker, Mr Yinka Folami, Chief executive officer of Travels and Logistics Centre had earlier made similar called due to what he termed as “fragmented nature of the business of Hajj and Umrah Operators.

 

Mr Yinka Folami said there is a need for members to douse the scepticism on travelling brought about by COVID 19. He also harps on professionalism in the industry and effective service delivery which he said is a panacea for survival in the current situation.

 

The Chairman /Chief Executive Officer of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alh. Zikrullah Kunle Hassan who was one of the lead speakers “reassured members of AHUON “that NAHCON will not allow its sister organisation to die because their survival is paramount to the survival of NAHCON”.

 

Barr Zikrullah said that Saudi Arabia may ban elderly and peoples with underlying health challenge from hajj 2020 if the Saudi Arabia government eventually gives a go-ahead for hajj 2020 to takes place.
