In Bangladesh: Security arrest Tour Operator for defrauding 44 Hajj pilgrims
Bangladesh Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained an agency owner in connection with embezzlement of 44 Hajj pilgrims.
Ohidul Alam Bhuinya, 50, was arrested from Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on Monday.
RAB’s Senior Assistant Director (Media) Senior ASP Shihab Karim confirmed the arrest Monday morning.
Owner of Sajid Tours and Travels Agency Ohidul Alam Bhuiyan, his son Sajidul Islam and brother in-law Md Shafikul Islam took money from the 44 pilgrims in 2023, he said. The accused persons went into hiding not sending them to Saudi Arabia despite taking Tk 3 crore.
Victims who were cheated filed more than five cases with various police stations including Sylhet.
