National flag carrier of Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia said it will keep an eye on the Saudi authority’s regulations while preparing flights for Hajj pilgrims this year, the airline management has affirmed.
President Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra said that the airline will also strive to provide a convenient service, with the observance of health protocols, to Hajj pilgrims boarding its flights to Saudi Arabia.
“We have earlier determined the airline fleet that we will use to cater Hajj flights. We have also coordinated with relevant stakeholders to ensure flight readiness and smoothness for Indonesian Hajj travelers who board our flights,” he informed in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Garuda Indonesia will ensure that all Hajj flights are airworthy and that consistent health protocols are enforced in all of the company’s operation lines and flights, the president director said.
The flag carrier has also intensively coordinated with government authorities, including the Religious Affairs Ministry, to ensure it has fulfilled all criteria for Hajj flights, he informed.
It has also coordinated with the Transportation Ministry to ensure its fleet meets the ministry’s airworthiness criteria, he added.
Regarding Garuda Indonesia’s aircraft allocated to serve Hajj flights, the president director informed that the company will employ wide-body aircraft, including Boeing 777-300 ER and Airbus 330-300, for the pilgrims.
“We will adjust the aircraft fleet deployed for Hajj flights with the total Hajj quota assigned by the Saudi authority for Indonesia. Hence, we will continue our intensive coordination and communication with relevant stakeholders to ensure accessibility and any demand for Hajj service will be properly fulfilled,” Setiaputra added.
