International Hajj Cancellation: Kano Pilgrims board to refund money to prospective Pilgrims

Following the cancellation of the International Hajj by Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kano state Pilgrims Welfare Board said it will return the money deposited by intending pilgrims for this years Hajj.

This was stated by the executive secretary of the board, Abba Muhammad Dambatta on a Freedom Radio programme ‘Rayuwa da corona’, monitored in Kano on Wednesday.

He said those who want refund of their money would be paid, while those who want to continue to book for next year’s Hajj have the option to leave their money with the board.

According to him nobody among intending pilgrims who deposited their pilgrims fare will lose a Kobo.

Recall that Saudi Arabia has on Monday barred international pilgrims from participating in this years Hajj pilgrimage amid the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the country’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah said Muslims of any nationality currently residing in Saudi Arabia are still permitted to perform the Hajj.

Those going to this year’s Hajj, according to Saudi authorities must be under 65 years old and will be tested upon arrival in Mecca.

This is the first time since 1932, the year of Saudi Arabia’s founding, that limitations have been placed on the annual pilgrimage.
