The last batch of intending pilgrims from Jigawa State on Friday commended the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), and the State Government over monetary discount in the 2019 hajj operation.

 

This newspaper reported how the first batch of intending pilgrims from Jigawa departed on Wednesday with 559 pilgrims aboard Max-air airline.

 

The 334 remaining intending pilgrims from seven local government areas in the state have been screened at NYSC orientation camp at Fanisau, in Dutse, the State capital.

An intending pilgrim from Dutse Local and area,  Magajiya Suleiman said “I am delighted because I didn’t expect the discount from Hajj Commission and the state governor Muhammad Badaru, I thank them for the kind gesture, I will use the discount to buy goodies and other valuables for my grandsons”.

 

Muhammad Ali, an intending pilgrim from Gwaram Local Government Area, said the discount come to many of them as a relieve because many of the intending pilgrims complained about the hajj fare.

“I will reciprocate the kindness done to me to pray for governor Mohammad Badaru and National Hajj Commission, May Allah continue to bless them,” he said.

Also, Bello Sani, from Mallamadori Local Government Area said “I learnt that Jigawa is the only state that received the highest discount, this was because of the commitment of the state government in prioritising welfare for the intending pilgrims. I am grateful to Almighty Allah, I will be a good ambassador of the state while in the holy land”.

 

Earlier, The Executive Secretary, Jigawa Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sani Alhassan told journalists that all the 893  intending pilgrims from the State have received a discount of N116, 000 including the discount from the NAHCON and the state government.

The government’s discount came through subsiding the cost of hotel accommodation in Makkah.
