Amid the temporary suspension of flights, Flights carrying Umrah pilgrims have been suspended as well. This would be the second suspension of Umrah for International visitors after the first suspension was lifted a month ago

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is yet to make an official statement regarding the suspension and accommodation of pilgrims who are left in the Kingdom stranded.

The Ministry of Interior has said that the suspension of flights was temporary and has been enforced for one week which could be extended for another week after careful analysis by the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Interior however allowed foreign airlines to leave who were still in the Kingdom’s terriority after the flight suspension was enforced.

It is worthy to note that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has the lowest amount of active cases of COVID-19 in the region with its active cases dropping each day. The new measures were met by a surprise as the Kingdom was expected to resume normal flight operations (Pre COVID) from 1st January 2021.
