Kaduna seeks speedy issuance of E- Passport for Hajj Pilgrims

A call has been made to Nigeria Immigration Service Command, Kaduna State, on early issuance of e-Passport booklets to Intending Pilgrims from the State.

The Ag. Overseer Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Haj. Hannatu Zailani made the call during a courtesy visit to Immigration office in Kaduna. She said every year intending pilgrims usually face shortage of e-passport, which consequently affect the general exercise of Hajj in the State.

 

Haj. Hannatu pleaded that a number of e-passport document be allocated to the board for the purpose of early issuance to intending pilgrims as such will give Board an ample time to evaluate and correct mistakes in the applicant biodata provided during the Hajj registration.

The Ag. Overseer said with the advancement of technology and globalization applicants’ documents such as e-passport, National Identification Number, Bank Account, Driver licensee, Voters Card carry unique data, but some intending pilgrims carelessly provide different names, inconsistence dates of birth; and these discrepancies have made it difficult for the Board to comparatively have reliable data of intending pilgrim.

 

The State Immigration Comptroller Odeh Adapoyi said the aim of his command is to serve people better, and work together during out-bound and in-bound journey in Hajj operations. He also appealed to the Board to assist the command in supervising foreigners from neighboring countries who use to apply for Nigerian e-passports to tarnish the image of the country.

 

Odeh said his passport officer are always ready to make the issuance of the e-passport seamless for the applicants with purpose of Hajj Pilgrimage.
