Lagos completes 2022 Hajj operation

The Lagos State Government has completed the 2022 Hajj operation with the arrival of the last batch of 36 pilgrims from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, today.

 

The 36 pilgrims who are on board a Flynas Airline with number XY 7502 which landed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, was led by the Board Secretary, Mr. Hakeem Kosoko.

 

It would be recalled that the State pilgrims began their journey back home after the completion of the Hajj rites with the first batch of 430 pilgrims on Sunday July 17, 2022. This was followed by the second batch of another 426 pilgrims on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 respectively.

 

The third batch of 416 pilgrims also arrived on Friday, July 22, 2022 while the fourth batch of 347 came in on Wednesday, July 27.

 

In order to ensure that non of its pilgrims was delayed in the foreign land unnecessarily, the remaining pilgrims were brought into the country via the same airline in the fifth batch with 10 pilgrims on Sunday, July 31, 2022 while the sixth and final batch of 36 pilgrims arrived today Wednesday, August 3, 2022.

 

In all, the total number of pilgrims airlifted by the State Government to the holy land for the spiritual exercise and successfully brought back home safely is 1,665.

 

Meanwhile, some of the pilgrims appreciated the State Government for taking their welfare as a priority.

 

They particularly expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat for their kind heartedness and favours they bestowed on the pilgrims.

 

They also appreciated the Amir-ul-hajj and Hon. Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi, Board Chairman and other officials for their selfless service which ensured their comfort in the holy land.

They unequivocally gave kudos to the State Government for its giant stride in Hajj operation hoping that she would continue to sustain her status as the best in Nigeria.
