The London Mayor Sadiq Khan, a British-Pakistani, performed Umrah during his visit to the holiest place of Islam in the world – Makkah and Madinha – “for a blessed end to 2022”.

The first Muslim mayor of the United Kingdom shared a photo collage of himself on Twitter wherein he can be seen visiting Masjid-al-Haram and Masjid-e-Nabawi.

In one of the photos, Mr Khan is seen praying with his hands raised in front of the Holy Kaaba while in the other photograph he is standing in courtyard of Masjid-e-Nabawi.

He captioned the photos as, “A blessed end to 2022. During this special time for so many families, I am grateful to have been able to visit the holy cities of Mecca and Medina to undertake the Umrah pilgrimage with my family. Here s to a wonderful 2023.”

Last year, Khan, the son of a Pakistani immigrant bus driver, won election of the London mayor for the second consecutive term. He became the first Muslim mayor of a Western capital when initially elected in 2016.
