The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has teamed up with the National Anti-Corruption Marathon Race in Abuja as part of the support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti corruption fight in the country.

Speaking during the courtesy visit to the Commission, the Director Human Resources, Dr Ibrahim Sodangi who represented the chairman Barrister Abdullahi Muhammad Muktar noted that though the Commission is a religious one, the leadership allows for anything that will be for welfare.

He noted that the Commission has declared total support for the National Anti Corruption Marathon race and will participate in all the activities since it is an instrument in the furtherance of President Buhari’s fight against the cancer called corruption which has eaten deep into our country and lives.

Dr Sodangi maintained that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has zero tolerance for corruption and assured the organizers that Commission is standing with them in the bid to eradicate corruption in the country

Earlier, the National Coordinator of the National Anti Corruption Marathon race Jacob Onu told the Commission that the overall intention of the marathon is to create awareness on the dangers of corruption to our existence as a people and society at large.

He disclosed further that it is on record that Nigeria is the first and only country anywhere in the world to use marathon race as a platform to create awareness on corruption.

Onu called on the Commission to join forces with the organisers in supporting the President’s fight against corruption noting that the government alone cannot do it.

“I want to reiterate that the fight against corruption is not to be left to government alone. Government’s responsibility is to create the enabling environment while enforcing laws and regulations. The real fight is a challenge for citizens to take up;  most especially at the home front by instilling good virtues to the upcoming youths.”

Several reputable organization like the Blueprint Newspapers and several others have also endorsed the 2nd edition of the Anti Corruption Marathon Race which will hold next month in Abuja
