The Federal Government of Nigeria has pledged to give full support to the Hajj Institute of #Nigeria (HIN).

The pledge was given on Tuesday by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha at the formal launch and take off of the HIN.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Special Services at the office of the SGF, Aliyu G. Mohammed, Mr Mustapha said “ the Federal Government is committed to supporting institutions like the HIN whose programs are in tune with the strategic objectives of this administration”.

He said he was particularly glad to launch the HIN because of its relevance to president Muhammadu Buhari’s administration’s focus under the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) “which has a vision of sustained inclusive growth and structural economic transformation.”

He asses that the government’s emphasis is focused on improving both public and private sector efficiency, increased national productivity and maximum welfare for Nigerians.

The SGF said the HIN is an academic institution established by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to inject professionalism into the Nigerian Hajj and Umrah Sector and create skilled manpower and jobs for teeming Nigerian youth.

“This is a core goal of the ERGP of Job creation, youth empowerment and improved human capital,” he said.

Mr Mustapha said the Professional Certificate program of the HIN, is a program that is designed to enhance the capacity of Nigeria’s hajj officials, fill the skills gap in the economy and ensure the effective management of the nation’s annual pilgrimage to the holy land.

“This is a critical step towards ensuring that our hajj operations are at par with international best practices, and our pilgrims receive the highest quality of services during their journey,” he said.

The SGF also commended the Board and Management of NAHCON for their dedication and hard work in establishing the Institute, “especially for being the first cohort of students and for their tireless efforts to ensure that our hajj operations are of the highest standard.”

He also expressed gratitude to both local and international partners who have joined to celebrate the occasion and support the Institute.

“As we move forward, I encourage the Institute to continue to seek innovative solutions and new ways of delivering the best services to our pilgrims through their academic programmes and research.

“I am confident that with the launch of this Professional Certificate program, and the ongoing efforts of the HIN, we will see continued progress and success in hajj operations,” the SGF said.
