The Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) has decided not to allow Brunei citizens – local and abroad – and permanent residents to perform Umrah pilgrimage based on Hukum syara’ and evaluation from the Ministry of Health due to COVID-19 pandemic, according to statement issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) yesterday.

The announcement was made following its 16th meeting to discuss the opening of Umrah pilgrimage that was announced by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for overseas pilgrims starting November 1.

The decision was made with reference to the State Mufti’s Fatwa through Siri Fatwa (14/2020) as well as the evaluation by the Ministry of Health.
