Press Release

The Executive Secretary of Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Salau Dauda has called on the Jaiz Bank to work out the modalities to achieve greater success in the coming Hajj exercise.

Alhaji Salau while receiving the team from Jaiz Bank at Secretariat Complex Oke-Mosan, said the need to have the pre-Hajj meeting was to discuss the way forward on the process of registration and remittance of Hajj fare to the Hajj Savings Scheme platform.

Executive Secretary said it has been agreed at a meeting with National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) that the Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS)  will run concurrently with Pay As You Go platform in order to have a smooth running of the Hajj operation.

He expressed his displeasure on the lapses experienced during the last Hajj operation, saying that several correspondences were sent to Jaiz Bank without response.

“Henceforth, periodic report must be sent to us from your office to keep us updated, so that we will know the number of individual pilgrims who registered directly with Ogun State through Jaiz Bank and pick Ogun State as state of their choice. We will not want to overshoot our allocation, as a result, we want you to furnish us with necessary information accordingly”,  Salau said.

Executive Secretary emphasized the need to facilitate the establishment of Jaiz Bank branch in the State in order to create adequate awareness and acceptance of the Scheme by the stakeholders.

Responding, the team leader of Jaiz Bank, Mr. Abdul-Salam Mutiu, appreciated the initiative of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for organizing a meeting to brainstorm on both successes and lapses recorded in the last Hajj, saying that the State is unique in so many ways, as no State had called them for recap or review of the past events.

He promised that their Bank would look into the identified problems and proffer workable solutions in conjunction with the Board.

” We will adhere strictly to whatever that will make the scheme to grow, also there won’t be any communication gap between us and your Board, and the issue of refund will be addressed appropriately”, he said.

Lending her voice, the Director Planning Research and Statistics, Mrs. Hibatullah Adeniran, pleaded with the Bank to address the issue of OTP code, as it was one of the problems encountered during the last operation.
