Osun State Government has commenced the refund of 2020 and 2021 Hajj Fares to pilgrims who applied before the cancellation of Hajj exercise.
Recall that authority of Saudi Arabia barred international pilgrims for the 2021 hajj. The country declared that only 60,000 pilgrims, including its citizens and nationals residing in the Kingdom, would be allowed to take part in the exercise.
Commissioner for Home Affairs, Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal disclosed this to newsmen in his office today.
According to the Commissioner, the Board has refunded 128 Intending Pilgrims as of Tuesday, August 10, 2021.
While giving a breakdown, he explained that N4.6 million will be disbursed to 4 intending pilgrims on Tuesday while a sum of N23.6 million had earlier been refunded to 16 pilgrims on the 2nd of August, 2021.
The Commissioner added that another N27.2 Million was disbursed to another batch of 19 Intending Pilgrims in July.
“N30.9 Million was disbursed to 22 Intending Pilgrims on the 5th of July and another N 50.4 Million was also disbursed to 36 Intending Pilgrims on the 29th of June 2021. Lastly, the Commissioner disclosed that a sum of N43.1 Million was released to 31 Intending Pilgrims on the 22nd of June when the refund exercise commenced.”
In his own contribution, the Administrative Secretary of the commission, ‘Bolaji Sanni disclosed that all Intending Pilgrims who applied were refunded their full deposits without any deduction whatsoever by the State Government.
He urged all pilgrims willing to collect their deposits to apply at the Board’s office as directed by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) following the normal official procedures outlined for the exercise.
