The outgoing Acting Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Barr. Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad has appreciated the Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR) for the organization’s support during his tenure.

In a letter, he personally signed, dated December 18, 2019, and addressed to the founder of the IHR, Ibrahim Muhammad, Barr. Mukhtar also appreciated IHR for what he described as “selfless service and assistance rendered to the commission during his tenure”.

He said “I have the honour to inform you that the President, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, has forwarded to the Senate, the names of members of the fourth board of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for confirmation, indicating the end of the third board, chaired by my humble self,” he stated in the letter.

Barr. Mukhtar noted that “the collaboration that existed between us has no doubt assisted in the discharge of our assigned responsibilities, and consequently, some modest achievements were recorded in enlightening our pilgrims and the general public on Hajj matters.”

The outgoing Chairman, therefore, urged IHR to extend the same cooperation to the incoming board of the commission, to be headed by Barr. Zikrullah Olakulle Hassan.

“I pray to Allah (SWA) to forgive our shortcomings and reward our good deeds. I also seek for your forgiveness and those of your colleagues whom we might have wronged in the course of our relationship.

“While wishing you Allah’s continued guidance, blessings and protection, please accept the assurance of my highest regard at all times,” part of the emotional letter reads.

Recall that in December last year, President Muhammadu Buhari had forwarded the names of the fourth board of NAHCON to the Senate for confirmation, the development that marked the end of the Barr. Mukhtar, who chaired the third board of the commission.
