Jakarta – The Ministry of Religious Affairs is coordinating with the Health Ministry and the COVID-19 mitigation task force to draft guidelines on the implementation of health protocols for minor hajj or umrah in 1442 Hijri.

“The Saudi Arabian government has not yet announced when they will reopen umrah. During the wait, we are making preparations, including drafting health guidelines for umrah amid the pandemic,” said the Ministry’s Director of Hajj and Umrah in a written statement on Friday, September 4.

According to Arfi, the ministry will soon hold a meeting with the Health Ministry and the task force as well as related ministries or institutions to deliberate the guidelines for umrah amid the pandemic.

The ministry’s head of umrah and hajj monitoring and supervision unit, Noer Aliya Fitra, added her party would expedite the issuance of the policy so that it could be used as a reference for umrah travel operators (PPIU).

“We will immediately release the regulations that will become a reference for organizing umrah and requirements that must be adhered to by PPIU,” said Noer Aliya.
