The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has allocated 4,513 Hajj seats to Katsina state for the 2024 Hajj exercise.
Similarly, owing to the fluctuating exchange rate, the commission has also demanded that, intending pilgrims/depositors should make an initial deposit of N4.5 million.
Alhaji Suleiman Nuhu Kuki, the Executive Director, Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board, disclosed this to newsmen to flag off the commencement of the Hajj 2024 pilgrims registration and deposit collection exercise at the Board headquarters in Katsina on Thursday.
Kuki who noted that, the majority of its clients are farmers and considering the current economic situation, said the state Governor has approved the payment for all intending pilgrims within a time frame of three months.
According to him, in order to enhance their ability to make the deposits, intending pilgrims/depositors are to begin with an initial deposit of N3 million, while the subsequent monthly payments would be completed by the end of December.
This he noted would enable intending pilgrims/depositors to comfortably conclude the payments waiting for whatever may be the balance of Hajj fares to be announced by the commission.
The Pilgrims Board Boss maintained that, all payments are to be made through certified bank draft payable to the state Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Kuki called on the intending pilgrims to reciprocate government gesture by coming forward to register and pay their deposits on time and cooperate with the Zonal officers for their transactions to avoid the dangerous activities of dupes.
