Sokoto Gov appoints new DG for Muslim pilgrims welfare agency

The new governor of Sokoto state, Dr Ahmad Aliyu has removed the Executive Secretary of the state’s pilgrims welfare board amidst the ongoing 2023 Hajj operation in the state.

HAJJ REPORTERS reports that the sacked DG had already supervised the airlift of forth batch of the state’s intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for this year’s before he was relieved of his appointment.

In a statement by his Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa, the governor had also appointed Ibrahim Umar Arkilla as acting Director General, Pilgrims Welfare Agency of the state.

Recall that HAJJ REPORTERS recently advised newly-sworn- in governors against playing politics by tampering with the already concluded preparations for this year’s Hajj by removing the serving heads of the pilgrims boards.
