2023: Katsina Gets 4,913 Hajj Seats, begins comprehensive pilgrims education

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has allocated 4,913 seats to Katsina state based on its performance in the 2022 Hajj exercise.

 

In line with the new figure, the state Governor, Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari has approved the revised distribution made to the 34 LGAs to effectively mobilise and facilitate continuous registration of intending Pilgrims across the state.

 

 

Similarly, pending the actual approved 2023 Hajj fares by NAHCON, the state Pilgrims board has decided to maintain the minimum deposit of the sum of N2.5m for each intending pilgrim.

 

 

Alhaji Suleiman Nuhu Kuki, the Executive Director of the state Pilgrims Welfare Board disclosed this at a press briefing held at the boards headquarters in Katsina on Monday.

 

 

“All depositors with level of payments less than that amount are implored to top up their payments immediately”, he said.

 

 

He added that, by so doing would assist the board to settle the required remittance of 50 percent to the Commission to guarantee the state allocation.

 

 

The state Pilgrims boss said the board has successfully concluded all financial reconciliations with NAHCON for the 2022 Hajj exercise paving the way for refund deposits and Hajj fares to those who could not perform the exercise.

 

 

Towards achieving a hitch free 2023 Hajj operations, Kuki maintained that, the board would soon unveil it’s planned elaborate Pilgrims education and enlightenment programmes.

 

 

While expressing the boards appreciation to the state Governor for his support, Kuki however solicited the cooperation of the intending Pilgrims and all other stakeholders for the smooth conduct of the 2023 Hajj operations.
