Tawfiq welcomed the visit of the Saudi minister to Cairo along with the delegation accompanying him because of the long-standing ties between the two countries.

He emphasized the ministry’s desire to improve mechanisms for cooperation and consultation with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, and to facilitate the performance of Hajj rituals by Egyptian pilgrims.

Following the Egyptian cabinet’s decision to start grouping Umrah flights on 1 October, the first Umrah flights from Egypt for that day, October 6, departed from Cairo International Airport.

According to Osama Khairi, a member of the Chamber of Tourism Companies General Assembly, the first Umrah tours were initiated, and each journey reached Mecca and Medina without incident.

“The success of the Umrah season this season was largely due to the Egyptian portal to Umrah,” he continued.
