Kwara Gov inaugurates Muslim pilgrim board members

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Monday inaugurated the Chairman and members of Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, with a call on the newly inaugurated members to ensure the overall welfare of the pilgrims is protected in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. 

Prof Mashood Mahmud Jimba of Kwara State University is the Chairman of the board, while members include Dr Ahmad Agbaje Abubakar, Alhaji Shu’aibu Kawu, Mallam Haruna Farikebe, , Hajia Adijat Aboto, Hajia Habibat Otunyo, Hajia Ahmed Mariam Hassana and Mohammed Nuhu Rasheed. 

Inaugurating the board members, Governor AbdulRazaq described the appointment of the chairman and members of the board as a public trust, saying that “I am confident that you all understand the enormity of this task”. 

The Governor, who was represented by his deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi urged members of the board to bring their wealth of experiences, knowledge of the job, personal integrity, and people management skills into bear.

“This is also an act of worship as you are expected not only to endure the many realities of serving diverse people with varying values and needs, but to also ensure the overall welfare of our pilgrims in Nigeria and in Saudi Arabia. 

“I pray to Almighty God to give you the strength to deliver on this mandate. It is on that note that I hereby inaugurate this board”.

The inauguration ceremony was witnessed by the Special Adviser and Counselor to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Alhaji 

Saadu Salahu; Non-Executive Director of NNPCL, Dr Ghali Alaya; Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Alhaji Bashir Adigun; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Danmegoro; Permanent Secretary, General Service, Alhaji AbdulRahman Babatunde who represented by the SSG, Prof Momman Saba Jubril and Executive Secretary, Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam among others.

Prof Jubril said the board members are to among other responsibilities organized hitch free hajj exercise, protect and safeguard the interest of the pilgrims in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, protect the image of the government in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. 

Prof Jimba while responding on behalf of the members of the board, appreciated the government for the confidence reposed and promised to justify the trust.

“The task ahead is enormous. We promise to do everything humanly possible to make sure that the name of this government is protected either here in Nigeria and abroad. With prayers and your support, we will surmount whatever problems that come our ways In-Sha-Allahu. While thanking His Excellency for the confidence reposed in us, we promise not to betray the trust”.
