Cost for hajj will increase next year – Tabung Haji

THE cost for hajj is expected to increase next year due to inflation rate and the development of new rules by Saudi Arabia based on the standard operating procedure (SOP) following the pandemic.

Hajj 2021: Malaysia gets additional 10,000 haj quota, says PM

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (Religious Affairs) Ahmad Marzuk Shaary said the additional cost will be for Covid-19 tests, vaccination, transportation that requires physical distance, accommodation and tents for pilgrims.

“Lembaga Tabung Haji will announce the cost for next year once it is confirmed,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat today.

He added the cost for #hajj in 2019 stood at RM22,900 per person, before the pandemic.

Tabung Haji is also reviewing the costs affected by the new taxes implemented by the Saudi government which includes value added tax that was increased to 15% from 5% in July last year.
