PRESS RELEASE

The Executive Secretary, Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Umar Makun, has charged all intending pilgrims from the state to be law abiding and ensure total compliance to the rules and regulations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Alhaji Umar Makun made this call during the official flag off of this year’s enlightenment and sensitisation campaign of Minna Emirate at the palace of His Royal Highness, the Sarkin Minna, Alhaji (Dr) Umar Faruk Bahago (CON).

The e ecuyive scribe enjoined the pilgrims who are yet to fulfill all the necessary requirements for the spiritual journey to do so today as the inaugural flight had been scheduled for Thursday (June 9, 2022) in Maiduguri.

Alhaji Umar Makun also implored pregnant intending pilgrims not to travel, but identify themselves for substitution because if found after visa, the pilgrim risked losing part of her deposit.

The executive secretary further urged the state contingent to exercise patience both here and in Saudi Arabia.

Alhaji Umar Makun underscored the need for the intending pilgrims to pray for the state and the country, especially as general elections holds in 2023.

The flag off ceremony was witnessed by some board members, relevant stakeholders and agencies, including the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), National Agency of Foods and Drugs Commission (NAFDAC), Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), National Orientation Agency (NOA) and Ulamas.

Educative lectures on the dos and don’ts of the pilgrimage in the holy land were delivered during the event.
