Hajj 2023: Kano Govt donates 30,000 Saudi Riyals to 50 pilgrims who lost their BTA

Kano State Government has doled out over 30,000 Saudi Riyals to 50 of its contingents who lost their Basic Travel Allowance in Saudi Arabia.

 

Director General of the state pilgrim’s welfare Board, Alhaji Laminu Rabiu Danbappa announced this on Tuesday in an interface with journalists at the Holy City of Makka, according to statement by Nasiru Yusuf Ibrahim, Ag Chairman, Kano State Media Team for 2023 Hajj on Tuesday.

 

Danbappa explained that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf out of his magnanimity, gave the approval for the release of the amount in the board’s appropriation aimed at assisting the victims but not to compensate them hoping what happened will serve as atonement.

 

He added that the beneficiaries received half of the money ranging from 750 Saudi Riyals to 500 US Dollars.

 

According to him the major beneficiary was a female from Gwale Local Government Area who lost 1,000 US dollars and received 500 US Dollars.

 

Speaking to journalists one of the beneficiaries Yunusa Ibrahim from Rimingado Local.lGovernment Area, who lost his waist bag with $500 and N100,000 local currency, on his way out of haram after circumambulation, said he was given 750 Saudi Riyals courtesy of the Governor’s benevolence.

 

The Director General also said over 3,000 pilgrims had so far been flown back home in six flights, adding that the seventh and eights batches will depart not later than middle of this week.

 

He maintained that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria had assured them of the completion of the operation barring any hitch, before Sunday 31st of this month.
