The committee formed by the management of Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport katsina to handle the forth coming Hajj 2024 operations has paid a courtesy visit to Katsina state pilgrims welfare board to intimate of its efforts to improve services this year.
Speaking during the visit, the chairman of the committee who is also the head of operations of the Airport, Jabir Mannir said the committee was set up following a review last year’s Hajj operation which experienced a lot of challenges.
He said, the committee is tasked with the mandate of ensuring that a smooth airlift operation this year.
The chairman commended the Katsina state pilgrims’ welfare board for its tireless efforts during last year’s operation, adding that the two bodies worked harmoniously despite the challenges.
The committee chairman further said Hajj operations often comes with many challenges which necessitate cooperation among all stakeholders.
Responding on behalf of the board, it’s Executive Director, Alhaji Yunusa Abdullahi Dankama expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the management of the Airport for setting up the committee.
He assured them of the boards readiness to always cooperate and support the airport authorities for a successful Hajj operation.
Dankama further told the committee that the board had received about 4,500 Hajj seats from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) this year adding that the board was able to register over 2,600 intending pilgrims from the state.
The executive Director also said as part of preparations for this year’s pilgrimage, the board had already secured befitting pilgrims’ accommodations, caterers and other Hajj services for the pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
He also said the board has so far been able to produce about 50 per cent of pilgrim’s visas among others.
Also speaking, the chairman of the board, Alhaji Kabir Bature Sarkin Alhazai expressed the board’s appreciation to the Management of the airport for forming the committee and assured them that the board will give them all the support and cooperation needed during the Hajj operations.
