To ensure air travel and pilgrimage logistics from Niger State, the State Pilgrims Welfare Board recently embarked on a two-day inspection tour of Minna Airport and Hajj Camp alongside the 2024 Amirul Hajj, who is the Emir of Kagara, Malam Ahmed Garba Gunna (Attahiru 11).
The Executive Secretary, of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sheikh Mohammad Awwal Aliyu, received a team from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) as part of the inspection.
The Executive Secretary disclosed that the inspection was aimed at on-the-spot assessment of works going on and ensuring that the Airport meets all requirements for the smooth and secure airlift of pilgrims embarking on the holy pilgrimage from the Minna airport.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of the work on going, saying if the pace and quality of work are sustained, he is optimistic that the intending pilgrims will be airlifted from the Minna Airport.
In his remark, the 2024 Amirul Hajj, Malam Ahmed Garba Gunna, harped on the significance of ensuring a safe and comfortable journey for pilgrims undertaking the exercise.
In her briefing, the NCAA team leader Muka Lawal Hadiza Nene said the purpose of the visit was to assess the airport’s readiness and safety standards for potential airlift operations.
The NCAA team meticulously examined various aspects of the airport, including runway conditions, terminal facilities, security measures, and overall infrastructure.
According to the team leader, the certification process conducted by the NCAA team is crucial in guaranteeing that the Minna Airport meets all necessary safety standards and regulations for the successful airlift of pilgrims.
She said the initiative is a reflection of collective commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and service in ensuring pilgrims’ smooth airlift to the holy land.
The joint inspection tour of Minna Airport by the Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board, the 2024 Amirul Hajj, the Ministry of Transport and the NCAA team marks a significant step towards ensuring the safety and efficiency of pilgrimage airlift operations from Minna airport.
