As part preparations for the 2022 Hajj airlift , the Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, paid a working visit to the DG Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Musa Nuhu. He also met the MD Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Capt. Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu; DG Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), Professor Mansur Matazu; Director Port Health, and other relevant sister agencies involved in Hajj operations.
The Chairman of NAHCON who spoke on the need to have a smooth, safe and efficient airlift of pilgrims to the Saudi Kingdom implores them to ensure that all airports, aircraft, and airspaces were ready before the inaugural flight.
Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan harps on the need to meet the basic health requirements for the Nigerian pilgrims (PCR test, yellow card issuance, Covid-19 vaccines) before departure to avoid problems and avert delays.
The Chairman/CEO also appreciated the staff and management of the NCAA and other organisations that were part of the airline-screening exercise for their wonderful job.
In his reaction, the DG of NCAA Capt. Musa Nuhu said all aircraft will be inspected accordingly to ensure they are airworthy before they are allowed into Nigeria’s airspace to commence the Hajj airlift. This he said, cannot be compromised. NAMA’s MD also made it known that they are getting ready to enforce the Hajj regulations, list of flights, and the immigration process.
Similarly, the NIMET MD, assured that the pre-Hajj inspection will be done, along with close monitoring and observation of the weather before the commencement of each flight.
