Arrangements have reached an advanced stage for the commencement of the airlift of intending pilgrims from Bauchi state for the 2019 hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.

The acting Executive Secretary of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Alhaji Kasim Danlami Shall disclosed this during an inspection visit to the Babasidi Hajj Training centre in the state capital.

Alhaji Danlami Shall said the airlift of the state pilgrims is expected to commence a week after the flagging off of the airlift by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, (NAHCON).

NAHCON has earlier announced that the inaugural flight for this year’s Hajj will take off on Wednesday, July 10 in Katsina state.

Alhaji Shall, who said the board will commence the distribution of 8-kilogram travellers’ bags and uniforms to the state intending pilgrims soon, also called on the intending pilgrims from local government areas to contact their local hajj affairs officers for the collection of the materials.

He called on the intending pilgrims to refrain from taking with them food items and other materials banned by the Nigerian and Saudi Arabian authorities, stressing that intending pilgrims’ bags would undergo thorough search at the hajj camp and the Airport.

Alhaji Danlami Shall said the state government had secured a befitting accommodation for the state pilgrims in Mecca while accommodation in Medina is purely the responsibility of the Federal Government.
