The Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Laminu Rabi’u Danbappa has urged the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to consider extending the deadline for hajj balance payments by at least two weeks.
A statement sign by the boars public relations officer Sulaiman A Dederi said “the appeal comes amidst a surge of interest from individuals seeking to benefit from the recent subsidy initiative introduced by the Kano State Government under the able leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusif.
The subsidy, amounting to five hundred thousand naira (₦500,000) per registered intending pilgrim, has sparked significant enthusiasm among prospective hajj participants. With the reduced balance now standing at 1.418,032.91 naira for those who initially paid 4.699,000 naira, and 1.617,032.91 naira for those who paid 4.5 million naira, many are eager to seize this opportunity.
Alhaji Laminu Rabi’u emphasized the need for an extended deadline, citing the overwhelming response and the complexity of processing the subsidy adjustments within the current timeframe.
He stressed that the existing four-day window for hajj balance payments falls short of accommodating the volume of inquiries and transactions pouring into the department.
Furthermore, Alhaji Laminu Rabi’u underscored the importance of meticulous documentation and record-keeping by departmental staff to ensure transparency and efficiency in the subsidy disbursement process.
As the demand for the Governor Abba Hajj Subsidy continues to surge, the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board remains committed to facilitating a smooth and equitable distribution of benefits to eligible participants.
