Hajj: Kano is one of the most compliant State – NAHCON Chairman

The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON ), Barrister Abdullahi Mukhtar Mohammed has disclosed that Kano State is one of the most compliant State in terms of Hajj operations in Nigeria.

” I am happy to announce that Kano State Pilgrims Board is one of the most compliant in Nigeria as far as Hajj is concerned,” he said.

Barrister Mohammed made the disclosure on Tuesday when he led the Management of the NAHCON on a Courtesy Call to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at the Government House.

He explained that they were at the State to see the preparations so far by the State Pilgrims Welfare Board for this year’s hajj operations, Stressing that ” Kano Pilgrims teams are up-to-date with their records and their performance on the I.T platform, all the ones developed by the Saudi Government and the ones developed by Nigerian Government ”

The Chairman, however said he was particularly impressed by the enlightenment programmes being conducted by the state on Hajj so as to educate its intending Pilgrims about the basic procedures of Hajj activities.

” More importantly is the coordination of both onshore and offshore. Kano State teams are doing their best to provide the best in terms of welfare, medical and ensure the comfort of their Pilgrims ” he revealed.

With regards to the commitments of the National Hajj Commission in Kano, Barrister Abdullahi Mukhtar explained that very soon his team would come for ground breaking of a Hotel-like accommodation which has the capacity of containing 500 people to be constructed in Kano City.

” This Hotel-like accommodation will have the capacity of containing 500 people and our desire is that at the end of completion of that project, Pilgrims will no longer stay at Hajj camps any more before their departure to Saudi Arabia,” he Said

Mohammed further notified the Governor that already, the Commission is constructing a clinic at the current Kano Hajj Camp, which according to him, would serve as Pilgrims clinic and will also serve the community respectively.

Receiving the Chairman, Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje represented by his Deputy, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna expressed appreciation to the management of the National Hajj Commission for the adequate assistance thru have been rendering to Kano on matters of Hajj operations.

” I wish to express our sincere appreciation to the entire management of the commission for the prompt and adequate assistance given to Kano whatever our requests, whatever information, Kano is being considered first in terms of number of Pilgrims and strategic positions in terms of airlift and others ” said Ganduje.

The Governor, in a statement by Hassan Musa Fagge, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, made available to IHR pointed out that preparations had reached advanced stage for the 2019 airlift of Kano State Pilgrims which is expected to commence on the 12th of this month, adding that for the past six months, the State Pilgrims Welfare Board had started extensive weekly hajj lectures as well as daily enlightenment programmes through the media and 32 Centres across the State.

He assured the team that his administration would continue to give all the necessary support and cooperation especially at this time when the commission is coming out with new initiatives aimed at improving Hajj operations.
